- Thinking Machines, the startup founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, released Inkling 2 Small, a model that takes text and images as input.
- The model has 594 billion total parameters, with 17 billion active at any time, and scores 31 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, tied with Google's Gemini 3.8 Flash.
- Its biggest gains are in agentic tasks, where it runs multi-step workflows on its own, and its hallucination rate fell from 61% to 27%, partly because it answers fewer questions.
