Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to read Newskeryx, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard or zoom. We work toward WCAG 2.2 level AA, the international accessibility guideline.

What the site does
| Feature | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Atkinson Hyperlegible typefaces | The Braille Institute designed them for readers with low vision. Similar characters such as I, l and 1 have distinct shapes. |
| Zoom | You can zoom the page as far as your browser allows. |
| Skip link | The first Tab press offers a link that jumps past the menu to the page content. |
| Pages render as HTML | Each page is complete before any script runs, so assistive technology reads the full page at once. |
| Light and dark themes | Use the moon or sun button in the header to switch. |
How we test
We test pages with axe-core, an automated accessibility checker. Automated tools find only part of the barriers a person can hit, so we also use the site with a keyboard alone.
Known limits
We have not yet tested the site with a screen reader user. The decorative color bands on story cards carry no information and screen readers skip them.
Report a barrier
If something on the site does not work for you, write to [email protected]. Tell us the page address and what happened, and we will fix it or send you the content in another format.
