Thinking Machines releases Inkling 2 Small, open weights promised next week

• Thinking Machines, an AI company, has launched a new model called Inkling 2 Small.
• The model is multimodal, meaning it can work with more than just text, and is built as a mixture-of-experts design (a setup where only part of the model runs for each request).
• Its weights, the stored numbers that let anyone run or modify the model, are promised under an Apache 2.0 license (a permissive open-source license) after outside safety testing.
