UK regulators say firms remain liable for mistakes made by their AI agents
First reported

- The UK's four digital regulators, which oversee competition, finance, data and online safety, say AI agents that act for users are covered by existing law.
- A company cannot escape legal responsibility by blaming an error on an AI agent it deployed, since the agent's autonomy does not reduce its duties.
- The regulators asked firms to make clear to consumers when an agent acts for them, how that authority is granted, and how personal data is used.
