Samsung forecasts record quarterly profit as AI data centres drive memory chip demand

- Samsung Electronics, a major maker of memory chips, expects operating profit of about 107.4 trillion won ($80 billion) for the July to September quarter.
- That is roughly nine times the profit of a year earlier, and its fourth straight record quarter, as AI data centres buy huge volumes of memory.
- Samsung's shares still slipped 0.7% on the news, as investors had expected even more.
