- OpenAI published an open letter co-signed by Microsoft, Google, AWS, Anthropic, Cisco, and 95+ others warning that AI will enable more frequent and sophisticated cyberattacks on hospitals, water utilities, and power systems.
- US intelligence agencies (NSA, CISA, FBI) confirmed attackers are already using AI to write exploit code targeting industrial control systems in energy, water, chemicals, and manufacturing sectors across America.
- Signatories call on companies to prioritize cybersecurity at executive level, governments to increase funding and coordination, and AI firms to provide affordable security tools for underfunded organizations.
- The letter argues AI advances also give defenders new tools to patch long-standing vulnerabilities like unpatched software and weak authentication, but only if deployed before attackers gain further advantage.
