- Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop Ultra will ship October 16 starting at $2,599 for 24GB memory, climbing to $5,900 for the top 128GB model. It uses Nvidia's RTX Spark processor, an AI chip originally designed for data centers.
- The laptop is designed for developers and creators to run artificial intelligence models locally rather than in the cloud, keeping data private and avoiding per-use fees after initial hardware cost.
- Five other manufacturers (Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI) are releasing their own RTX Spark laptops simultaneously, marking the first generation of AI-focused Windows machines marketed for creative and technical workflows.
